Today, I want to talk about a mistake I see many women make, one that keeps them stuck in their weight loss journey.
Most women try to lose weight, especially belly fat, on their own. They go through hormonal changes and think, “I can do this by myself.” But when the results don’t come, it’s easy to feel frustrated.
When you’re not seeing progress, over time, things can actually get worse. The weight creeps up, health risks increase, and even your sleep and confidence start to suffer.
Sound familiar?
Why We Try to Do It on Our Own
“How Hard Can It Be?”
You’re independent, skilled in so many areas, and you think, “I’ll figure this out myself.” But hormones are complex and so is nutrition. They require years of study to fully understand, and when things aren’t done right, it can make things harder in the long run.
Hormones don’t work alone, they’re interconnected. When one is off-balance, it often impacts others.
Thinking Weight Gain Is “Normal”
Gaining weight might seem common, but it doesn’t have to be your “normal.” I work with women who don’t want these symptoms to define their lives. It’s easy to accept these changes, but your body tells you when something’s not right. Don’t make the mistake of normalising symptoms that indicate imbalance.
Gaps in Knowledge
Sometimes we don’t realise there are gaps in our understanding of health. I hear from women who say, “I eat healthy,” but healthy isn’t always what it seems.
Many foods have hidden sugars, or we may not be getting enough protein.
We often follow quick-fix diets or even tips from friends and family, but what works for one person may not work for you.
Hormones need the right balance of nutrients, including healthy fats, to function well.
Bad Past Experiences
Maybe you’ve tried restrictive programs that left you feeling deprived or struggling to cook separate meals from your family.
Or maybe it’s been tough to stay motivated on your own.
That’s why finding the right program (with support and community) can make all the difference.
Leaving these uncomfortable symptoms like weight gain and belly fat can have a knock-on effect.
When you’re carrying extra weight, it’s not just about how you look, it’s also about long-term health. Don’t let it spiral downwards.
