This recipe is for you if you want to eat a warm breakfast, but you are getting bored of your regular porridge made with oats.

I pre-make the quinoa before, so it doesn’t take long to cook this in the mornings. Quinoa is high in protein, fibre and a good source of carbs. Variety is so important, so you get different nutrients through the foods you eat plus you don’t get bored of eating the same foods.

Try this warm, satisfying breakfast made with natural sweeteners and you will have a good start to your day.

Quinoa, Chia and Berry Porridge Recipe:

1 cup cooked quinoa

1 cup milk

¼ cup water

1 tbsp chia seeds

¼ tsp cinnamon powder

4 walnuts, halved

Sunflower seeds, 1 tbsp

Pumpkin seeds, 1 tbsp

½ cup berries, mashed

Honey to taste

Pre-soak the chia seeds in 4 tbsp water for 30 minutes.

In a pan combine the quinoa, water and milk and bring to a boil.  Then mix in the cinnamon powder, lower the heat and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Next mix in the chia seeds that have been pre-soaked in water and let this simmer for another 4-5 minutes, or until you get the consistency of the porridge you like.

Divide the porridge between two bowls and spoon the mashed berries.

Layer the walnuts and seeds over the porridge.

Lastly, add honey to taste.  As the berries are sweet you will not need much honey.
