Diwali is a special occasion when we get together with family and friends. If you celebrate Diwali and find you over indulge in the traditional Indian sweets why not try making a healthier “mithai” or sweet for yourself and those you love.
Sharing one of my favourite snack recipes below, which not only tastes delicious but is made with only 5 ingredients.
As you make your own bar feel free to adjust the dates to suit your taste buds. Remember, as with all sweet foods watch your portions!
Love these nut, dates and cacao “chocolate” bars
200 grams almonds
150 grams pitted dates
75 grams desiccated coconut
5 teaspoons cacao powder
5 teaspoons coconut oil
Lightly grease a tray with coconut oil and press this mixture into it. Let it set in the fridge overnight. Cut into squares and enjoy. Please note that these need to be stored in the refrigerator.
