Healthy apple crumble that you can enjoy guilt free.
You don’t need to stop eating desserts, just make some simple swaps and make them healthier.
Recipe:
5 large apples, diced
1 cup oats
¼ cup walnuts
2 tbsp coconut sugar
¼ tsp nutmeg powder
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
4 tbsp water
35 grams melted butter
In a pan heat the water and mix in 1 tbsp sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon powder and then mix in the apples. Cook on low heat, for about 10 – 12 minutes, stirring so the apples are cooked evenly and are soft and moist once cooked.
To make the crumble topping, in a food processor blend the oats, walnuts, melted butter and 1 tbsp coconut sugar. This should be thick and not a fine powder, so please don’t process too much.
Spoon the cooked apples in a baking dish and layer the topping over. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for about 25 minutes, until browned and crispy.
Serves 5-6 and enjoy on it’s own, with Greek yogurt or cream
